Artist's Description
For seventy years, the Domino Sugar sign has shone neon red during the day or night. On March 1, the sign was turned off to be replaced by a new sign, more energy efficient. That sign will be turned on July 4, 2021. The sign, still intact, will be dismantled over the coming weeks to make way for the new lettering. One of the largest and oldest illuminated “billboards” in America, it was a Baltimore landmark. In my 17 years here, this is the first time, I have captured this iconic landmark for the express purpose of sharing it! Baltimore’s Maryland USA. Artistic rendering using a painterly effect.
About Kathi Isserman

My focus has always been on the natural world and its beauty whether it be a dragonfly, flower, frog, or tree bark. When viewing our world, I look at how people and architectural structures fit into it now and in the past. Do they coexist with their natural surroundings or look out of place? To that end, what compels me to take photos is, not only our natural world, but the history we created within it, thus combining my two loves of nature and history.
