Artist's Description

Interestinginfo: George Washington is said to have surveyed this area and carved his initials in the limestone. Thomas Jefferson once owned this area which includes Natural Bridge. This was my first time visiting here. I arrived just after peak Autumn leaves.

"The 37th state park was dedicated on September 24, 2016, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark in 1988. The 215-foot tall Natural Bridge is a limestone gorge carved out by Cedar Creek. The park is more than just the bridge; beautiful forests and rolling meadows showcase the area's karst terrain, and vistas of surrounding mountains and the James River valley display nature's splendor. Access these via 7 miles of hiking trails, including Cedar Creek Trail, which leads from the park's Visitor Center under the bridge to the Monacan Indian Village and Lace Falls with its 30-foot cascade. It is my intention that my photographs of landscapes and architecture, as well as close ups of nature and historical artifacts, give us a sense of the world around us. As a photographer and naturalist, I continually search for the obscure, as well as the obvious, as I believe without...
