This Mute Swan was seen in Cape May, New Jersey which has lots of land devoted to wildlife refuges.
From Audubon, "Brought in from Europe as an ornamental addition to parks and estates, the Mute Swan has established itself in a feral state in some parts of North America, mainly in the northeast. In some places, it has become common enough to be unpopular, and it is considered a pest in a few areas. Not really 'mute'; its voice is hoarse and much quieter than those of our native swans, but its wingbeats may be heard as much as a mile away."

My focus has always been on the natural world and its beauty whether it be a dragonfly, flower, frog, or tree bark. When viewing our world, I look at how people and architectural structures fit into it now and in the past. Do they coexist with their natural surroundings or look out of place? To that end, what compels me to take photos is, not only our natural world, but the history we created within it, thus combining my two loves of nature and history.
