Description
To get to these falls, it is a short under a mile hike from the C&O Canal towpath. The falls are part of the Potomac River and are called the Great Falls. From this vantage point the trees in the photo are in Virginia while I was standing in Maryland. This is part of the C&O National Historic Park. The C&O National Canal starts in DC runs 184.5 miles to Cumberland Maryland, the western edge of Maryland. The falls here are a short distance from the start and it is here where DC, Virginia and Maryland all share a part of this amazing natural wonder.
