Description
This Green Heron is preening at Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach Florida. When I first saw Green Herons in Florida, I thought they were babies even with their full color. They are smaller than their counterparts up in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic.. A National Park Ranger explained that the birds in Florida tend to be smaller because the competition for food is greater-more birds=more competition.
